Chequers Lane Garage is an independent family-run business located in the picturesque village of Walton on the Hill in Surrey.
Our History:
Founder Joe McGeoghan developed an early passion for all things mechanical, leading him to pursue a career in the automotive industry.
He began as an apprentice in London while studying for his City and Guilds qualification.
Joe spent many years refining his skills at main dealerships, bodyshops, and independent garages in London and Surrey.
After a period of self-employment, he established JM (Motor) Engineering in 1991.
In 1996, Joe relocated the business to Walton on the Hill, initially renting a small workspace before purchasing the building in 2002.
This marked the realisation of his dream for Chequers Lane Garage.
As demand for high-quality service increased, Joe faced the challenge of maintaining that standard while expanding capacity.
His efforts resulted in a dedicated and highly skilled team known for consistently delivering the level of workmanship for which Chequers Lane Garage is renowned.
Our customer base extends far and wide, with many clients traveling great distances for our services.
The Team
Chequers Lane Garage is currently managed by Joe’s son, Jamie.
Jamie officially joined the team in 2003, having spent much of his childhood assisting his dad.
He is now a highly skilled and experienced technician who also oversees the garage’s day-to-day operations.
Our team of technicians, MOT testers, and apprentices is supported by up-to-date equipment, technical information, and ongoing training.
Your first point of contact will usually be Daniel, who will greet you warmly and strive to understand and meet your needs.
He will communicate regularly and liaise with the workshop to ensure your requirements are fulfilled and that a resolution is provided to your satisfaction.
